Fishing Dreams to Come True at US Open Kayak Fishing Championship
State College, PA – Ever dream of fishing for your country? Want to see how you stack up against America’s best kayak fishing anglers? Want to see the sport of kayak fishing elevated to Olympic recognition? USA Kayak Fishing is excited to announce that anglers from across the country will have an opportunity to fish for the United States. There are two upcoming international events in 2022 that will be attended by the USA Kayak Fishing Team. The Kayak Fishing World Championship is set to be held in Cookeville, TN on Centerhill Lake on April 25th through 30th. The Pan American Kayak Fishing Championship will be chasing giant Mexican bass in the fall of 2022. High School anglers will also get a chance to shine via the concurrent KBF High School Open. There are great opportunities for all kayak anglers.
World Championship Open spot:
The overall winner of the US Open (male or female) will earn a spot alongside seven other USA Kayak anglers (Top angler not already on the World Team). This angler will join America’s top kayak anglers including: Rus Snyders, Drew Gregory, Eric Jackson, Ron Champion, Cody Milton, Jaxton Orr and Guillermo Gonzalez. “We are looking forward to filling out our World Team at this event” says Team Manager, John Knight. “What an incredible opportunity for all of our kayak anglers to take their shot at making the team. It is a dream scenario for a lucky angler.” The first ever kayak fishing championships is sanctioned by the Confederation Internationale de Peche Sportive (CIPS). Official World Championship Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be on the line for competitors. CIPS is the only pathway to make kayak fishing a recognized Olympic sport.
The 2019 USA Pan American Men & Women swept the Gold Medals
Pan American Open spots:
The top six men and top six women from the US Open will make the USA Kayak Fishing Pan American team. These anglers will be invited to attend the 3rd annual Pan American kayak fishing championships in Mexico next fall. “We are really excited about this huge opportunity for men and women kayak anglers. They will be part of the Pan Am international movement to support kayak fishing. They will also get an opportunity to catch a bass of a lifetime on one of Mexico’s trophy fisheries” says USA Kayak President, Tony Forte. “Mexico is an incredible host and this will be a fantastic experience for Team USA. Teams from USA, Mexico, Canada, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Columbia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Panama and possibly others!”
