Anglers must be between 13-18 years old at the start of the clinic.
This year’s clinic will be capped at 15 Anglers to accommodate for COVID protocols. 2 anglers will be in a room. By signing up, you are agreeing to the USYFFT COVID-19 Protocols (FOUND HERE)
Tentative Schedule
Friday April 1st, 2022
Check-In:
1 p.m.
Dogwood Motel, Nantahala Outdoor Center
Parents drop off kids, claim bunk area, set up tying space, gather/prepare fishing gear. Come not hungry. We won’t serve lunch.
Drop off until 2 p.m.
After the above is done, tie flies that you will use for the weekend.
2:30 p.m. Group Meeting (Dogwood Motel)
Introductions, Expectations, Facility Orientation, Discuss Clinic Agenda, Safety Overview
3:30 p.m. – Group Gear Meeting
Break into groups
Instructors look over gear; (Check rods, leaders/sighters and flies)
Instructor input on gear and casting. Help/Adjust as needed.
4:30 p.m. – On the Water Instruction from Instructors – Upper Nantahala
7:00 p.m. – Dinner
8:00 p.m. – Fly Tying, Pattern Selection
Modern Nymphing DVD Screening
Saturday September 11th, 2021
8 a.m. – Breakfast
8:45 a.m. – All groups ready to go fish. Waders on and gear ready.
Noon – Lunch on the River
1 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Fishing Instruction 6 p.m. – Head Back to NOC
6:30 p.m. – Dry Fly Presentation by Mac Brown
7 p.m. – Dinner 8 p.m. Talking about Competition Preparation
Sunday April 7, 2021
8 a.m. – Breakfast All anglers will clean-up (tying area, bunk area and facility) and gather gear.
All gear and luggage will be packed and ready to go in the fly tying room.
10 a.m. – Presentation on the Lower Nantahala
After presentation, free fishing until noon.
Noon – 1 p.m. – Pickup (Klienrath Hall)
Make sure you have all of your personal belongings.
